Sew what?

Prize-winning needle worker  Amber Thody was forced to withdraw her embroidery of a blue, nude woman from a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan fair when at least one person found her work to be a little too blue.

The dancing female figure was pulled  from an arts and crafts competition at the Saskatoon Exhibition after a single complaint that it was offensive.

"It seems like a funny thing to make such a fuss about," Amber told the CBC. "It's kind of annoying because people obviously aren't responding to it as a piece of art."

Shirley Olafson, a spokesperson for the Saskatoon Exhibition Association, said the decision was made to remove the work after one person complained.

"If it's distasteful to someone, then that's what we do," she said.

Luckily, Shirley doesn't run an art gallery.  And happily,  Amber still took second place for her work, even though she had to remove it from pubic display.
