Known as the "king of revenge porn," he used to run the website IsAnyoneUp.com. The site offered nude pictures of men and women, uploaded without the subjects’ consent. Moore would often include the victim's personal information.
Although some of the images were submitted by angry exes looking to shame their former partners, many of the pictures were grabbed by Moore by hacking people's e-mail accounts. In February, Moore pleaded guilty to one count of computer hacking under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and one count of aggravated identity theft.
Moore did not work alone. His co-defendant, Charles Evens - who hacked e-mails for Moore for upwards of $200 a week - was sentenced last week to two years and one month in prison, with three years probation and a $2,000 fine.
Moore reached a similar plea agreement with authorities, resulting in just over two years behind bars. Once released, he will be on probation for several years and forced to advise police of any “computer, computer-related device, screen name, password, e-mail account or ISP” he uses.
“He hid behind his online persona and engaged in aberrant behavior,” Judge Dolly Gee said. “Now you must face the consequences of your own actions. Your poor judgment has caused much pain to your victims and your family.”
Moore's mother spoke at the sentencing, claiming that her son had changed and that he was now getting treatment for recently diagnosed mental illness issues.
Moore, however, did not speak at his sentencing. His lawyer said that Moore would like to work with school children to teach them the dangers of posting sensitive pictures online.
Who knows, maybe a few years behind bars will bring about the one thing Moore has yet to give: a public apology to his victims.
