Porn app takes secret photos, then demands ransom

RansomwareFree porn is never really free. From malware to viruses, a lot of the stuff out there being downloaded on the cheap is contaminating people's computers and they don't even realize it.

The perfect example is a new app called Adult Player. It promises free porn, but while you're checking things out it is taking pictures of you. Those images are then used to blackmail you.

The Android app is nothing more than "ransomware." It silently takes a compromising photo of the victim, which is then displayed on the screen, along with a ransom message. The app demands $500 to be paid via PayPal in order to free up your system.

The warning note says: “Your device has been blocked for safety reasons listed below. All your files are encrypted. You are accused of viewing/storage and/or dissemination of banned pornography (child pornography/zoophilia/rape etc.)”

Simply rebooting the smartphone does not help, as the warning screen will just reappear. Instead, users are being advised to reboot their phones in safe mode as an administrator in order to select and disable the app.
