Yesterday, gay porn actor Teofil Brank (better known as
Jarec Wentworth) was found guilty of extortion.
The jury, which consisted of eleven women and three men (which included two alternates), took about two hours to find him guilty on all six charges. Brank was found guilty of transmitting threatening communications, extortion by non-violent threat, two counts of receiving proceeds of extortion, attempted extortion by non-violent threat, and use of an interstate facility to facilitate unlawful activity.
Brank was clearly upset with the decision, burying his head in his hands as the jurors left the courtroom.
The trial started on Tuesday, focussing on Brank's attempts to extort large sums of money and expensive gifts - including an Audi r8 sports car and $500,000 cash - from Florida tycoon Donald Burns.
During testimony, Burns admitted that he regularly paid men up to $2,500 for each sexual encounter and was well aware he was engaging in prostitution.
"It was a way to have sexual contact without commitment and I had the resources to do it," Burns explained.
Another interesting tidbit that came out during the week's testimony came from porn model
Justin Griggs (better known as
Taylor on Sean Cody and
Justin Matthews on Cocky Boys). He told jurors that the 51-year-old Burns flew him and several other young men to his homes in Nantucket and Palm Beach.
“It was really just hanging out, surfing, grilling out, going to dinner, and then we would have sex, group sex,” Griggs testified. The following morning, Burns then gave the "talent" envelopes with cash.
Griggs also spoke of another man but was afraid to give details "because he was very powerful and you feared for the safety if you disclose information.” After being pushed, however, he named the man as film producer and studio head David Geffen.
As for Brank, he will be sentenced in September and could face up to nine years in prison. (Insert your own prison joke here.)
