Filmmaker promises nude selfies for Kickstarter support

Romas ZabarauskasRomas Zabarauskas has found an interesting way to promote his new Kickstarter campaign. The openly gay Lithuanian filmmaker is offering nude selfies to people who help fund his new film project.

The project, titled You Can't Escape Lithuania, will shine light on the current experiences of gays and lesbians in Zabarauskas' home country.  "Lithuania is a tiny Eastern European country with approximately 3 million inhabitants," he said "It’s a country of spectacular landscapes, a rapidly growing economy, and people who dream big. The bad news is that our politicians are increasingly pushing a homophobic agenda. Since 2010, a controversial Protection of Minors law, similar to Russia’s anti-gay legislation, has been in force."

The movie is fictional, though loosely based on the filmmaker's life. Romas helps a good friend, an actress, Indre, escape Lithuania after she murders her mother and steals her money. Romas also takes his hot Mexican boyfriend Carlos along for the ride.

On the road, Romas gives Indre an ultimatum: if she doesn’t agree to perform in one last experimental film, he will turn her over to the police. Nope, doesn't sound artsy-fartsy at all.

He hopes his film, and the nude selfie campaign he's using to fund it, will make people think.

"The provocative campaign and the film will challenge the Lithuanian society and will bring up the important political context in crazy artistic ways," he explained.
