Jonathan Groff on 'Looking'

Jonathan Groff 'Looking'Jonathan Groff knows some people are critical about his new show Looking. The HBO series - in which Groff plays Patrick, a San Francisco video game designer looking for love, or at least a reliable fuck buddy - is getting mixed reviews.

"Now that it’s come out and people are seeing it and reviewing it and starting to have opinions about it, it’s sort of become this conversation piece," Groff told SiriusXM host Michelangelo Signorile, "which at the end of the day is, for us working on the show, really exciting. People are engaging with it, whether they like it or not."

He added, "I believe in this more than anything I’ve worked on. So to hear people saying negative things about it, it’s a little hard because it feels like your baby is out there in the world."

The show follows Patrick and his best friends as they navigate the minefield of gay sex and relationships, with the City by the Bay making a beautiful backdrop.

As for comparisons to other shows, Groff thinks they are great. "I think the cool thing about the comparisons to Girls or Queer as Folk or Sex and the City is that there's maybe an audience crossover. If you liked those shows, chances are you might like our show," Groff explained at the series premiere.
