British TV doctor Christian Jessen to test 'gay cures'

Dr Christian Jessen to explore gay cures in new British TV series.Christian Jessen, an openly gay doctor and TV personality in the UK, will be exploring gay conversion therapy in an upcoming British television series.

Cure Me, I'm Gay will examine alleged cures for homosexuality and put "expert" claims to the test. During the series, Jessen will experience a variety of 'therapies' and then see if there is any change in his sexuality.

Individuals who say they are no longer attracted to the same sex will also be interviewed and given lie detector tests to check the validity of their claims.

As a doctor, Jessen said he has often been approached by patients who were desperate to become straight. He hopes the series will help explain how these treatments can be physically and emotionally detrimental to patients.

The show will air on Channel 4 in the UK later this year.
