Harlow Cuadra wants a new trial

Harlow CuadraHarlow Cuadra, the former escort and pornstar convicted of homicide, is hoping for a new trial.

Five years ago, Cuadra was charged with the first degree murder of Cobra Video owner Bryan Cocis. He was given life in prison for the crime.

Cuadra is now requesting a mistrial, claiming that his attorneys were ineffective at defending him during the 2009 court case.

“My life was devoted to Harlow,” lawyer Joseph D’Andrea countered, when asked on Friday to defend his handling of the case by Cuadra's current lawyer. “I know it’s a contention of your petition that we did not have enough time. We wanted more time, but it was not granted, so we just had to get it done."

Cuadra is also arguing that his co-defendant, Joseph Kerekes, was solely responsible for the murder. In 2007, Kerekes pled guilty to second degree murder and was also sentenced to life in prison.
