ACLU pushing for 'Modern Family' gays to get married

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) really wants Cam and Mitch from Modern Family to tie the knot.

The group has started a campaign demanding that producers of the hit show include an episode where the two characters wed. There's even a petition for people to sign, cleverly designed in for the form of an RSVP to the ceremony.

”Mitch and Cam are a couple that America has come to know and love, and seeing them get married, and seeing the characters in the story grapple with their desire to get married, makes it real for a bigger part of America,” explained James Esseks, director of the LGBT Project at the ACLU.

He said that the episode would help draw even more attention to the current court battles over gay marriage rights.

“The freedom to marry is being advanced in American living rooms as much as in court rooms,” added ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero. “As we wait for the Supreme Court to rule, we want to keep this issue on the minds and screens of Americans everywhere.”

If this is something you feel strongly about, you can RSVP at the ACLU website.
