Shocked fans hear homophobic rant from singer

Michelle Shocked lived up to her name last night when she revealed that God hates fags. She made the announcement during a concert in San Francisco of all places. 

For those not familiar with Shocked, she was best known in the 80s for the hit single 'Anchorage.' Three of her early albums were even nominated for Grammys, and she once went up against (and lost to) Madonna for an MTV Video Music Award.

Since then she has continued recording and performing, maintaining a presence in folk and roots circles.

Everyone assumed she was a lesbian. My gaydar certainly went off the second I saw her (and, not to brag, but my gaydar is never, ever wrong!). And after some extensive digging, I was able to find a 1990 interview in which she talks about being queer: “I was with my first woman lover about a year and a half ago. To be honest, the real fear of coming out of the closet, not fear, but the real pressures of coming out of the closet had been if you had certain problems identifying yourself one way or the other.”

She has since denied any claims of being a lesbian, has been married to a man, and revealed in 2008 that she was a devout and practicing Christian. Then last night she shoved her full-blown, purple-headed hate-on for gays in fans' faces. 

According to one witness, Shocked “said she lives in fear that the world will be destroyed if gays are allowed to marry," while another added the singer told fans “you can go on twitter and say Michelle Shocked said ‘God hates fags.’” Most fans actually left the concert during her rant.

And that would make her a moron with a capital M.
