CNN host Carol Costello and the 'gay Gestapo'

CNN anchor Carol Costello has declared that she is proud to be considered part of the previously unknown "gay Gestapo."

The charge was leveled at her following an interview with American Family Association spokesperson (and hatemonger) Bryan Fischer. Last week she was interviewing him when he started making false claims about homosexuality. When he began to list the "known health risks" associated with homosexuality Costello ended the discussion.

"I'm going to end this interview right here, because that's just not true," Costello said.

Fischer took to his radio show on YouTube and claimed her actions proved she was in league with an imaginary movement that he called the "gay Gestapo."

"Well Mr. Fischer, if that's the definition of 'the gay Gestapo,' then I am a proud, card-carrying member," Costello replied.

Maybe not the most thought-out retort, given the Gestapo were the secret police of Nazi Germany. Would she have said she was a proud card-carrying member of the gay Nazis if Fischer had slandered gay Americans  with that accusation?
