Young MTV actor comes out

Paul Iacono Is Gay: 'Hard Times of RJ Berger' Star Comes OutPaul Iacono may still be a little green when it comes to showbiz, but he is sure about one thing: he's not staying in the closet on his path to stardom.

His big break when he appeared in the recent remake of Fame. He then got to star in his own MTV series The Hard Times of RJ Berger.

The Village Voice recently asked him if he was openly gay.

“Yes. I’m rolling with the punches here," he admitted. "I was asked if I was comfortable doing gay press. I said, ‘Of course.’ I didn’t think I’d be coming out. But why not now? I think it’s the right time to say something. It’s not about me, it’s about change and the work.”

RJ Berger has been canceled, but he's set to star in a new MTV show called Kenzie’s Scale. He actually gets to play a gay character.

“I play Cole, Kenzie’s boyfriend," he explained. "It’s about a high school sweetheart couple who move to New York for college. He has this gay awakening when they get there. So they continue living together more as friends than lovers. It’s like a radical young Will & Grace.”

Finally, someone that older, more closeted actors can look up to.
