British 'Idol' all grown up

Will Young in white lycra.

Back in February 2002, Will Young became a household name in Britain after winning the first season of Pop Idol, the UK show that spawned American Idol and imitators the world over. He acknowledged he was gay shortly after winning when a tabloid threatened to out him.

However, coming out wasn't easy. "I was terrified of being gay so I didn't really feel sexual until I was about 26," he recently admitted. "I wasn't really having sex, so I was quite inhibited. I feel like I've reached a place that I'm happy with, worked out things I will never do. It's taken me years to work that out."

He is currently promoting his latest album, Echoes, which will be released at the end of August. And the first single, 'Jealousy,' is actually quite good.

"The inspiration for the video jealousy came from the film Trapeze starring Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis," he said. "I thought it would provide an interesting context for the song and also wanted to show that you can still wear white lycra in your 30s."

Of course you can wear white lycra in your 30s, just never after Labor Day. Check out the vid below.
