Politician claims he was raped to protect boss

BulgariaA Bulgarian Member of Parliament went to great lengths to distract the public from claims his own party leader was gay, going so far as to claim a female member of a rival political party raped him in a bathroom. He late claimed the accusation was just a joke.

Emil Vasilev, who belongs to the right-wing RZS party, sent a long letter to the media over the weekend claiming Iskra Fidosova, the Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Group of the ruling center-right party GERB, raped him on October 22, in the men's restroom in the Parliament.

"I was brutally raped by Fidosova in the men's room. There is one cracked tile, and one of the sinks is unsteady as a result," Vasilev's email stated.

However, he made the accusation in the final paragraph of a letter that was primarily focused on refuting claims that his own party's leader, Yane Yanev, was gay.

Yanev has been aggressively fighting rumors about his sexuality. When another politician claimed Yanev had admitted to being gay, Yanev said the man should bring his wife over to see how gay he really was.

Vasilev's letter states that the homosexuality claims were created by the GERB party to discredit his leader. He denied actually writing the letter - sent on his e-mail account - but said he stood behind it 100 per cent.

As for the rape claim: "As far as I understand Mrs. Fidosova is alive and well. If she had really raped me, my wife would have liquidated her by now."

What a charming man.
