An expensive outing

Model Carlos Alberto Cunha Gonçalves has been awarded US$42 million after he was called gay on the popular Brazilian TV show, "Superpop." And even though the statement was made by a guest on the show, network Rede TV will be footing this rather large bill. At least we know one guest they won't be booking anytime soon...

The judge argued that "programs that are notoriously sensationalist should at a minimum make sure to respect the dignity of individuals because freedom of expression, achieved at a high price, cannot justify violating privacy, which is also a principle of the Federal Constitution."

It may not feel like it, but one day being called gay will not be seen as such a bad thing.
