Broadway Idol

Joining the likes of Rosie Perez and  Kevin Chamberlin, '90s porn star Ryan Idol is about to make his Broadway debut. The role is quite the stretch: he will be playing a patron in a bathhouse in "The Ritz," opening October 11 at Studio 53.

Now 41, this is not Idol`s first time on-stage. He appeared in the touring production of  "Making Porn," a comedy about the gay porn film industry in San Francisco in the early 1980's. He later starred in "Scent of Rain" with performances in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Rumor has it that the actor, best remembered for porn movies "Idol Eyes," "Score 10," and "Trade Off," is also working on his own auto-biographical stage play called "My Messy Bedroom: Anatomy of an Idol." It will be interesting to see how they recreate his infamous jump out of the 4th floor window that almost cost him his life.

From playing a porno star to portraying a bathhouse customer ... good thing Idol isn't being typecast, or anything.
