Drive-by fruiting

The weapons of homophobia know no bounds. A woman accused of targeting a gay couple with  produce in Pacifica, California in March was arraigned Friday in a South San Francisco courtroom. Tiffany Adler, 20, is accused of  chucking apples and asparagus at a gay couple as she passed by them in a van.

Both victims were struck by the airborne fruits and veggies. Police investigating the incident say they discovered a telltale asparagus spear in Adler's purse. She has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor hate crime and battery charges; a jury trial is scheduled to begin July 2. Stay tuned.
