Naked pics spark resignations

It's not yet against the law to take nude pictures of yourself and post them online. But down in Snyder, Okla., where the police chief has been forced to resign over public disapproval of his plus-sized wife's adult photos, it might as well be.

Chief Tod Ozmun announced his resignation last week, according to Kansas City's KMBC-TV 9, after local residents objected to nude photos that his wife had taken of herself and published online. According to many incensed citizens, the photos are immoral. According to Ozmun, they're his wife's right; residents' disapproval, he says, is "absolutely ridiculous."

The beleaguered chief feels his authority has been eroded to the point of no return. "I don't feel like me staying in office is going to benefit my department or my staff," Ozmun said. "This has turned into a mess."

Joining Ozmun in his resignation were Mayor Dale Moore, who told the angry townsfolk, "I don't want to work in a community like this," and Councilman Clifford Barnard, who said in a statement, "I've never read anywhere in the Good Book that the Lord wanted us to persecute those that did not hold the same morals or values."

Ozmun added that his 43-year-old wife, Doris Ozmun -- who is known to be as a plus-sized porn model -- is no different than any other citizen who post nude self-pics on the Web. What's more, the chief  explained, the decision to pose nude is hers to make, not his.

"My wife is 6-foot-3 and weighs 300 pounds," he said. "If there is somebody that thinks they can control her, have at it. I have tried for 11 years and haven't been able to."
