2nd Active Duty soldier guilty

A second Army paratrooper pleaded guilty Monday to charges stemming from an investigation of soldiers who appeared on Dink Flamingo's ActiveDuty.com. Pvt. Kagen B. Mullen told a judge he received a total of $7,500 for appearing on the site, though he didn't perform any sex acts with other men.

Mullen pled guilty to charges of conduct detrimental to the Army and use of marijuana and was sentenced to 90 days in prison, a bad-conduct discharge and loss of two-thirds of his pay.

The soldier told the court that he was recruited by the Web site’s producer, Dennis Ashe, through Myspace.com. Ashe, a leading producer of military-themed porn, owns Active Duty Productions and Pink Bird Media.

Mullen said he took part in at least five solo photo shoots and one film that involved a woman and soldiers from his unit.

But Mullen told the court he didn't have sex with any other soldiers. “At first everyone was sleeping with her, sir, and then they started doing things with each other. I kind of tried not to really pay attention to what they were doing, sir.”

Prosecutors portrayed Mullen as a reckless and arrogant soldier with a history of bad conduct.
Capt. Adam Barlow, Mullen’s former commander, said there is little chance he can be rehabilitated. “I can’t ever think of a time when hardly something good was surrounded by Mullen’s name,” Barlow said.

Too bad there aren't court martials for bad grammar.

A hearing for a third soldier is scheduled for May 16.
