Stephen Baldwin: anti-porn vigilante

Famous for their masculine air and handsome faces, the Baldwin brothers at one time more closely resembled porn stars than protesters. But as Stephen Baldwin proves, people change. The youngest Baldwin has been boycotting a porn store in Nyack, N.Y., and says he'll do anything to shut it down.

The target of the jowly Baldwin's campaign is a brand new adult entertainment store that will sell movies, books and magazines upon opening this month. The store, which will also feature video booths, will attract crime, lower property values and destroy the local quality of life, according to Baldwin, who told The Journal News that he will continue protesting until the store is closed.

"I don't want it this close to my house," said Baldwin, who has lived in the area for 10 years and starred in such films as "The Usual Suspects" and "Born on the Fourth of July." "I'm personally not OK with pornography. I definitely think that it adds to the moral decay of our culture."

To make his point, Baldwin stood outside the store the night of Jan. 13 in order to photograph workers and their vehicles as they readied the new porno palace for business. He promised to photograph patrons and their license plates every day, and to publish patrons' names once a month in a full-page newspaper advertisement.

Local police said that Baldwin is free to express his opinion and to take photos as long as he is not on the store's property.

Maybe Steve should spend a little less time harrassing his neighbors and a little more time looking for his lost career!
