Tyler Glenn is back with "Shameless"

Neon Trees’ frontman Tyler Glenn has dropped another single from his upcoming solo album, Excommunication.

Glenn used to be a Mormon. He came out in 2014, and at the time he hoped he would be able to reconcile his faith and his sexuality. The Church of Latter Day Saints recently declared Mormons in same-sex marriages were apostates and prohibited their children from being baptized. Glenn, outraged, chose to leave the church.

His album, Excommunication, was written as he struggled with the emotional aftermath of his decision.

"It’s the first record that I’ve done where I had to write it," Glenn told Billboard. "I had to get all that energy out. And it feels real-time; I’m still living it. I started writing it last November. It’s the most authentic I’ve been able to be in music."
