Gay couple refusing to back down

middle fingerGay couple Lyle Evans and Chris Ilovar are not backing down after their Seattle home was targeted by homophobic vandals.

The men woke over the weekend to some strange noises. At first they thought it was a cat, but when they heard the same sound again they knew something was up. They looked out their window in time to see a shadow or shadows running down the street.

They also discovered their car tires slashed and windows shattered. A letter was left behind, telling the couple to "Get the fuck out of our neighborhood. The Bible says God forbids men committing indecent act [sic] with other men." It was signed 'KKK.'

"It feels like a violation," said Evans, "[it] feels really shocking because you don't think things like this happen anymore, especially in Seattle, Washington."

"It's just kind of disturbing that people put so much effort to hate people," added Ilovar.

They have no plans to move, however, promising to install new padlocks and motion-sensing lights. They will also be adding a new flagpole to their property, and will hang from it a rainbow flag and an American flag.

"Take that, haters," said Evans. Consider it a giant, rainbow colored middle finger to the bigots in the community.
