Perfume Genius is back with a new album called No Shape.
Critics have lauded his latest work, with many pointing out that some of the heaviness and anger of his previous three releases is gone. The singer seems to agree.
“A lot of the things I’m writing about now are more like questions,” he explained. “It’s more dissonant. But I ended up liking that part of it.”
The first release is "Slip Away." Perfume Genius said the song is about "stealing the warmth and goodness regardless of what's going on outside or in your own head, just taking it anyway."
He added: “This song is joyous and free in a way that I had never written before.”
The album does have a few darker moments. The single "Die 4 U" is an ode to erotic asphyxiation.
