German politician defends police cadet who appeared in porn

Germany may be one of the last bastions of liberal tolerance, if you don't count the skinheads.  Take, for example the case of a young Berlin police cadet who may have his career terminated before it starts because he appeared in a (warning!) straight porn film three years ago. The 11 minute scene is a part of the Penis Bingo (Pimmel Bingo) series and is an amateur-style orgy scene set in a living room.

Dismissal might seem a normal consequence of the (unnamed) cadet's indiscretion, but a member of the German parliament has come to his defence. Green Party member June Tomiak, who is 19, says being in porn can be seen as a positive move because (non-violent) porn "makes people more open and tolerant when dealing with body image and sexualty." And since the cadet used a condom he set a good example by practicing safe sex.

Police spokesman Thomas Neuendorf disagrees: "Such an activity is incompatible with the career choice. The reputation of the police is damaged by such recordings. It is currently being investigated as to whether the man's character is suited for the job and whether he will remain a cadet or be kicked out."

Tomiak thinks the police are overreacting, saying "This stiff handling of the issue is so out-of-date in 2017" (pun intended?)
