At this moment in history it is fitting that we remind ourselves of the struggles and hard won victories of the LGBT community over the past two generations.
ABC will soon be airing When We Rise, a miniseries loosely based on the memoir of the same name by Cleve Jones. It starts with Stonewall in 1969 and tells the story of "the personal and political struggles, set-backs and triumphs of a diverse family of LGBT men and women who helped pioneer one of the last legs of the U.S. Civil Rights movement from its turbulent infancy in the 20th century to the once unfathomable successes of today."
There will be a few big actors in the series, including Guy Pearce, Mary-Louise Parker, Rachel Griffiths, Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnel.
One thing we know: it has got to be better than last year's flop, Stonewall.
