RentBoy update: six people free, but CEO still facing charges

RenboyFederal authorities have dismissed charges against six of seven former employees of the escort website Rentboy.com. However, the charges - involving the promotion of prostitution - were dismissed without prejudice, meaning that they could later be refiled.

Aaron Mysliwiec, a lawyer for Shane Lukas, a former chief operating officer, said: “It’s unfortunate that Lukas was ever arrested. But we’re happy that he’s able to move on with his life.”

Edward Lorenz Estanol, an escort and former social media coordinator for the site, took to Twitter to express his relief.

“This trial has been nothing but a huge inconvenience to me, but now that my case has been rightfully dismissed I can start to put back the pieces of my life that were taken from me,” Estanol wrote. “I am forever grateful to everyone who supported me during the past few months. We will meet injustice with justice.”

Former chief executive, Jeffrey Hurant, is now the only employee facing charges of money laundering and promoting prostitution.

His lawyer, Michael Tremonte, said "it makes no sense to single him out for prosecution."

Hopefully he'll be able to work something out so that he, too, can get on with his life and leave this witch hunt behind him.
