Bruce Jenner officially comes out as trans

On Friday night, Bruce Jenner came out as a trans woman.

Rumors of the upcoming transition of the former Olympian have been building over the past few months. But during a 2-hour long interview with Diane Sawyer, Jenner confirmed that she was a woman. (Note: she has not revealed her new name and, according to reports, does not plan on sharing it any time soon, so it's a girl named Bruce for the moment.)

She always had these feelings. As a child, she would dress in her sister's clothes, and hide her short hair under her mother's scarves.

“I didn’t know why I was doing it,” she said. “It just made me feel good."

“I would say I have always been very confused with my gender identity, since I was this big,” she added, holding her hand about three feet off the ground.

Now 65, Jenner admitted she dreamed of coming out all her life.

As for her sexuality, Bruce has never been attracted to men. “I am not gay,” Jenner said. “I am, as far as I know, heterosexual. I’ve always been with a woman, raising kids.” However, when pressed by Sawyer, Jenner said she was more "asexual" than anything.

She has received a lot of support from her family.

Her son Brandon tweeted an image of him and his father on Instagram, adding "proud son" in the caption.

"You have always been a role model to me and now more than ever, I look up to you," her step-son Rob Kardashian tweeted. "LOVE YOU!!"

As for his former wife Kris Jenner, she tweeted: "Not only was I able to call him my husband for 25 years and father of my children, I am now able to call him my hero."

The most unsettling news Bruce shared during the interview was when she was asked if she was still a Republican. Jenner answered, "Yeah. Is that a bad thing?"   Oh, Bruce!
