When
Ricky Martin started his singing career, it was as part of the boyband
Menudo. He was 12 years old.
Now 43, Martin is planning to return to his roots. He is joining up with Simon Cowell to find the next Latino boyband. (Will the group become as big as Cowell's current hit, One Direction?)
“I am very excited to be a part of this innovative program, together with Simon Cowell,” said Ricky Martin. “Our community needs musical projects in order to cultivate its talents; which is why I feel it’s the perfect moment for a show like La Banda. There is so much talent to be discovered and I’m sure we’ll find the next musical phenomenon with the help of not only the judges but also the fans.”
La Banda will search for Spanish-speaking male singers from the United States, Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean and Puerto Rico. Martin will be one of the judges and executive producers for the show, and he will go on to manage the five-person group.
Because the world needs another singing competition? We say Si! (as long as they are all over 18, hot and appear naked at some time during the show).
