Apparently JP Morgan Chase Bank has a problem with people who make a living in the porn industry. Recently, it has sent out hundreds of letters to porn stars advising them that their accounts would be closed early next month.
“We recently reviewed your account and determined that we will be closing it on May 11, 2014,” the letter reads. “Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. ... We want you to have enough time to complete pending transactions and open an account at another bank."
Last year Marc Greenberg, founder of the soft porn studio MRG Entertainment, had a similar issue with Chase. He accused the bank of violating fair lending laws after it refused to underwrite a loan for “moral” reasons.
Perhaps a bank that has engaged in numerous shady practices should focus on keeping its customers, rather than casting moral judgements.
