Jeff Stryker flops on Indie GoGo

Crowd funding is a great concept. It lets small entrepreneurs get a start, creates seed money for projects and even raises money for charity. But the idea has to come across as more than just - well - strange. 

Former porn icon Jeff Stryker has probably made more money from his career in adult than any other male star. Those days are long gone, but there is still plently of Jeff Stryker merch to be had, from a collectible action figure to playing cards. He must have a pile of this stuff warehoused somewhere. 

As we mentioned last week, Stryker's project is a photo book about his pet interest, marijuana grown non-hydroponically. According to him, hydro is poison. With an IndieGoGo  goal of over $42,000, he's made less than $100 in his first week. 

There are many reasons why his plea for funding has so far not captured the imagination: 
- there is zero medical evidence that nutrients used in hydroponics contribute to disease in humans
- there are already books and websites on organic marijuana cultivation
- he's marketing it as a "beautiful coffee table book." Really, just what everyone wants on their coffee table!
- it is completely unrelated to his fame as a porn star
- the famous "Jeff Stryker Realistic Dildo" is not among the rewards for contributing
- some of the T-shirt rewards for contributing are strange as can be. Who would ever wear the one on the left? And the one on the right (called "My Rights")  is really mixing things up: porn star with a gun and pot? 

Looks like Mr. Stryker will just have to self-finance his book.
