Frankie Valenti, better known to the rest of us as Johnny Hazzard, wants another show at mainstream success by starring in the independent film Where We Belong.
The film is about two estranged gay brothers who struggle to reconnect following the death of their homophobic father. Valenti plays the younger brother and black sheep of the family.
The older, less adventurous brother, played by the movie's co-writer Mark Strano, still lives at home and has been taking care of the father while he was sick.
"I have a handful of gay sibling friends and I've always been fascinated by their stories but I've never seen a movie about them," explained director and producer Wade Gasque. "What was it like growing up together? Does it make the experience less isolating? How do you disappoint mom and dad, twice?"
"This is my chance to showcase what I got," Valenti said. "I want to be that guy who crosses over."
Valenti also appeared in the here! gay-themed vampire television series, The Lair.
As for Where We Belong, only half the film has been shot. Gasque is hoping to secure the remaining funds needed to complete the film using public support. He has created a Kickstarter campaign and hopes to raise $30,000.
