Jeremy Irons: gay marriage may lead to dads marrying sons

Jeremy IronsCertain actors should stick to a script, and only talk about the movies they're in or their latest fashion line. Jeremy Irons is one such celebrity.

Yesterday, the actor was interviewed by the Huffington Post's Josh Zepps. And the topic of same-sex marriage came up.

Apparently, Irons sees several issues should gay marriage be made legal.

"Could a father not marry his son?" Irons asked, pointing out - incorrectly - that  "it's not incest between men" because "incest is there to protect us from inbreeding, but men don't breed."

He continued: "It seems to me that now they're fighting for the name. I worry that it means somehow we debase, or we change, what marriage is. I just worry about that."

But not to worry, Irons insisted that he "[doesn't] have a strong feeling either way" on same-sex marriage. "Living with another animal, whether it be a husband or a dog, is great," he said. "It's lovely to have someone to love. I don't think sex matters at all. What it's called doesn't matter at all."

Yes, because loving a dog or a husband is pretty much the same thing.

Seriously, Mr. Irons, what have you been smoking?
