After a little prodding, Apple has severed its relationship with the Christian Values Network (CVN). CVN can no longer make money as an affiliate of the iTunes store.
Over 22,000 people signed a petition on Change.org demanding that Apple ban CVN as an affiliate, after it came to light that CVN gave proceeds to anti-gay groups like Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council.
Apple now joins other companies distancing themselves from CVN, including Microsoft, Macy's, Delta Airlines, and BBC America.
“From the beginning, I knew that once this issue was brought to Apple's attention, they would not want to be a part of CVN because it funds anti-gay hate groups like Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council,” said Ben Crowther, the man behind the petition. “Apple is a fair-minded business. I'm glad this petition helped make Apple aware of this issue, and I am thrilled that they removed iTunes from CVN.”
