Aussie soldiers accused of homophobia

Australian soldiersAustralian soldiers have been caught posting the names of 'gay' servicemen on Facebook, and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) has been accused of not holding the men accountable for their actions.

According to the Sidney Herald, complaints were made about the Facebook page 8 months ago. It was removed, but no one has been disciplined. Over 80 soldiers were named on the page, which claimed “It is your right to know who is biting the pillow.”

The same page stated that homosexuality was a “filthy lifestyle” and asked visitors to name all “bum bandits."

A Defence spokeswoman said the matter ”is still the subject of ongoing investigation,” adding that "the attitudes and behaviours described are contrary to everything that the Australian Defence Force stands for and has achieved in welcoming and supporting diversity across the organisation.”

Major Paul Morgan was listed as one of the "bum bandits."

“I have sacrificed my whole adult life to the army and the inaction in this case is soul-destroying,” he said.

One would think that the men, risking their lives, would be treated just a little bit better.
