Spanish protestors planned to make their presence known during next months visit by the Pope, and like any activist group these days they relied on Facebook to get their message out. The plan: a same sex kiss-in to let Pope Benedict XVI know that they don't agree with his views on homosexuality.
However, the 'Queer Kissing Flashmob' Facebook page, which organizers claimed had attracted support from 12,000 Facebook users, has been removed.
”This has added greater fuel to the fire, and one of the organisers, Marylène Carole, expressed her 'disbelief' that a couple kissing in public could be considered 'outrageous' in this day and age,” stated online website, the Reader.
Facebook has yet to answer renewed charges of censorship and homophobia. It may be just one of those 'administrative blips' so many companies seem to experience when it comes to gay-friendly content.
