Feud leads to fake orgy ad

CraigslistEarlier this month a man in West Hartford, Connecticut, took to Craigslist to advertise an orgy involving a bored soccer mom. He invited strangers to the party, but didn't tell anyone it was a joke. Not even his neighbor, who he sent these men to visit.

Philip James Conran, 42, appeared in court yesterday to answer to charges of reckless endangerment, harassment, criminal trespass and risk of injury to a minor. According to authorities, Conran placed the fake ad because of a feud with his neighbor.

In the ad, titled "Looking for lust," Conran asked for  "as many [men] as I can before I go to work!" He included the house's address.

And yes, half a dozen men did show up. Police Chief James Strillacci admitted to some surprise by the number of strangers who stopped by or called: "We were saying to ourselves, 'The economy must be worse than we think if all of these able-bodied men are able to immediately drop everything and drive over to this neighborhood,'" on a Monday morning.

One man even ended up at the wrong house, where he groped a teenage girl.

"Hopefully we'll reach a resolution that's fair not only to my client, but fair also to other people involved in this incident," Michael Georgetti, the man's attorney, said.

Life on a deserted island for stupidity sounds about right.
