Soap actress can't act

We've always been a little suspicious of the acting abilities of most soap stars. All that really matters is that you are photogenic, can remember (if not deliver) their lines, and be willing to stay on set for some very long days.

So when actress Patricia Mauceri (who plays Carlotta Vega on 'One Life To Live') was told she was going to play a gay-friendly latin mother she freaked out. Presumably it was too much of a leap for her and would have so terribly challenged her acting chops that she didn't want to go through with it. (Imagine if they asked her to actually play gay!) Okay, she just didn't like the pro-homo storyline ...

Luckily in the soap world actors are easily replaced and the execs at One Life To Live did just that, bringing in Saundra Santiago to take over the role. We think it's a good decision; Santiago is so much prettier.
