Who needs the Academy Awards?

Awards season is upon us, and not just for the major players in Hollywood. Even porn stars and adult video companies are getting the recognition they deserve.

The next big event is on March 28th with the 11th Annual GAYVN Awards. Comedian Margaret Cho, supermodel Janice Dickinson and "Ugly Betty" star Alec Mapa will be hosting the event (proving the old adage that real stars love porn).

With several nominees listed in each category (16 contenders for the Best Picture award, alone) it really is anyone's guess who'll come out, ahem, on top. TitanMedia may be one of the biggest winners of the night with an impressive 39 nominations. [more]

The 9th Annual Cybersocket Web Awards, voted on by both fans and industry insiders, were handed out on February 9. Hosted by Chi Chi LaRue, 36 categories were covered from Best Original Content Site (Randy Blue) to Best VOD Site (AEBN). Gay adult video director Brian Randall, founder of Pistol Media and GunzBlazing.com, was also recognized as the Business Person of the Year during the ceremony.

The 2009 XBIZ Awards also took place this month on Feb 12th. All aspects of the adult industry were celebrated with 6 awards being handed out to GLBT specific producers.

"We are very proud and humbled to again be recognized as the preeminent GLBT Studio of the Year," said Titan vice-president Keith Webb after winning their award. "I hope this award can be yet another example to others in the industry that sticking to your morals and doing the right thing can indeed have an impact on your product, your bottom line and your community. Protection and profit can indeed go hand in hand."

Raging Stallion's 'To the Last Man'  won GLBT Movie of the Year and Jackson Wild was named Performer of the Year. The other winners can be found here.
