Hard choices

The 14th Annual Hard Choice Awards were announced last week and this year's line-up of winners is an impressive one. The Awards recognize the best in gay porn from 2007 according to the one and only Onan the Vulgarian from xxfactor.com (yes, "XFactor" magazine may have ceased publication last year, but it lives on in cyberspace).

According to Onan: "It's that time of year when everyone with something to say puts it in a list. This is my list. No party, no fanfare, no shindig, no porn stars, no statuettes. No lifetime achievement awards, no drag queens, no envelopes, no acceptance speeches, no Ms. Congeniality. Just the year's best in all-male porn."

The big winner, not surprisingly, was the extremely successful video "Grunts" from Raging Stallion Studios. It received several nods including Best Film (USA), Best Director (Chris Ward and Ben Leon), Best Solo (Ricky Sinz), and Best Butt Parade (furry). That's icing on the cake for the best selling gay DVD of 2007.

Kristen Bjorn Productions' "El Rancho" also did well, proving that the master of the hands free cum shot still has a few tricks up his sleeve. The movie picked up Best Film (Foreign), and Best Director (Kristen Bjorn).

Performer of the Year went to cutie Jesse Santana, that spunky twink who made it very clear he's a porn star not an escort. He appeared in "Bottom of the 9th," "Knob Bobbin'," and "Fraternity GangBang 2."

One of our favorite sites was also recognized. Bryan Ockert won for Best Web Director for ChaosMen.com, and took Best Film Editing for his "Edge Series #1" -- the series where hot men are blindfolded and bound to a chair naked so their bodies can be explored by eager hands. Hot!

And yes, despite what some of you may think, someone had to come up with a script for these films. Porn scribe Tony Dimarco was honored for Best Screenplay for both "The Intern" and "Gigolo" by Lucas Entertainment.
