Porn, by its very nature, is controversial. Society has yet to fully come to terms with the idea of consenting adults having hardcore sex in front of a camera. Fair enough.
However, one studio is taking porn to a whole new level. For them, the medium is a perfect venue through which to explore other highly contentious issues, including politics and religion.
Dark Alley Media started with a leftist-friendly dig at George Bush with the release of Gaytanamo, where director Matthias von Fistenberg featured an American despot, George the Second, leading US forces against Europe for world domination.
It must have worked, for publicity and sales, because the studio is going after a new target. And it doesn't get much more controversial than this...
Are we going to hell if we're getting turned on right now?
The movie is entitled, Passio (the Passion), and it offers a unique take on the story of Jesus. You won't find this version in the Bible, and they certainly never brought it up in Sunday School.
"My Jesus is gay, stunningly beautiful and sexy. He gets aroused like all of us," Von Fistenberg told Queerty.com. "Maybe the Pope will excommunicate me or Fox News will have a field day, but they wont be able to take away this important step towards exercising fully the right to free speech and artistic freedom."
And, as the director points out, "[ultimately] you choose which Jesus is yours." Can ours look like Colin Farrell, then?
Hey! Jesus didn't smoke!!
