Royalties for porn models

Porn publicist Jason Sechrest has announced that his newly formed production company,  DV8 Entertainment,  will pay a percentage of film profits to performers in addition to their day rates.

The unprecendented policy would be a major breakthrough in porn performer compensation. Sechrest told AVN,  "The filmmakers in this business don't want their work to be seen as exploitation, and they love to say that we're a family and look out for our own, but in practice that often only exists to the extent that it doesn't cut into their pockets."

Sechrest, 25, has been in the biz for 7 years as a publicist and operator of porn news site  JasonCurious.  He wrote and directed DV8's first feature, "Bully," which starts production this week in L.A.

Sechrest sees the move to pay royalties to performers as good for everyone involved. Stars are more likely to give the best performance possible and to promote movies if they know they stand to make more money from increased sales.

"I look forward to a day when there's a healthy competition between companies, even bidding percentage wars for our industry's stars. What can I say? I'm young and hopeful," Sechrest told AVN.
