Billy Eichner's gay rom-com filled with LGBTQ actors

Billy EichnerBilly Eichner is stepping up, bringing a gay led romantic comedy to a major studio (Universal Pictures).

Bros follows two gay men, played by Eichner and Luke Macfarlane, who possibly might be falling in love. Maybe. The problem: they are both super busy.

This week, the cast was revealed and the movie is being carried by an impressive all-queer cast. Besides Eichner and Macfarlane, the movie will include TS Madison, Scandal star Guillermo Diaz, Miss Lawrence, comedian Guy Branum, and RuPaul's Drag Race star Symone. Though from the LGBTQ community, not all of the actors will be playing gay roles.

“I could not be more proud or excited about the historic nature of the all openly LGBTQ+ cast of Bros," said Eichner. "After queer actors have spent decades watching straight actors capitalize both artistically and professionally by playing LGBTQ+ characters, it is a long overdue dream come true to be able to assemble this remarkable, hilarious cast.”

“And while Bros may be the first of its kind in several ways, my real hope is that it is only the first of many opportunities for openly LGBTQ+ ensembles to shine and show the world all we are capable of as actors, beyond just being the wacky sidekick, token queer or a straight movie star’s ‘gay best friend.’ And beyond all of that, this cast is fucking hysterical and you’re going to love them.”

You're going to have to wait to see it, though; Bros is scheduled to be released on  Aug. 12, 2022.
