"In general, it was easier than I’d anticipated," he told Squirt. "You’re never asked to do anything that you’re not willing to do, and if you need to take a break then no one is going to say no. Obviously, we all want to film a great scene as efficiently as possible, but if you need a break then all you need to do is say so. If something doesn’t feel right or hurts, you stop, regroup, change position if necessary, and continue filming until it looks and feels right.

"One thing I wasn’t expecting to like so much was the acting. I love getting a script, and reading it over and over again until it feels like my own words. I love running through the scene with my co-performers, working out all the kinks. It’s important to me to see how guys get from fully dressed to totally nude and groping each other in porn. Being the one acting it out is even more exciting. Maybe even more exciting than the sex."

He also opened up about the color pigmentation on his prick, and how it has proven to be an issue for some.

"On top of the fact that I’m a man of color, I also have a pigmentation variation on my penis that has made some directors not want to work with me, and some agents not want to represent me. You can see it in any of the scenes I’ve filmed so far. I’ve had this variation since I was a teenager, and over the years it seems to have gotten more dramatic.

"It’s not an illness, it’s not contagious, and it doesn’t hurt. Most guys have different colored skin on their penis, mine is just a little more dramatic than most. I’ve never really been insecure about it until I tried to break into the porn industry. None of my scene partners have complained or even questioned it, and none of the fans have made any negative comments. In fact, some of them have said really nice things about it. They like it, and I’m learning to like it too. It’s something that makes me different and unique."

Diaz has spoken out about racism in the industry, including how black men are often treated as fetishes and not people.

During an interview with Davey Wavey, Diaz shared: “there’s the expectation that being a person of colour, this is how you have sex. These are the roles that you play. These are the words that you say to each other. This is how you do it. But that’s not always the case. Sometimes it is the case. Sometimes, the stereotypes do fit. But not always.

“It makes me feel a little bit weird sometimes, because I think people looking at me think that I should fall into that category, that BBC category, and I don’t really fit the BBC category … My dick is not huge. It’s a decent size, but it’s not huge. So I don’t fall into that stereotype of all black men, all men of colour have huge dicks. I don’t. They don’t. There are a lot of us who don’t. I hate that that’s an expectation that I’m supposed to live up to, to have a huge dick. I mean, I have enough issues to worry about as it is. I don’t wanna have to worry about the size of my dick too.”

Of course, things are starting to change as more black models are cast in gay porn in a variety of roles. And some performers, like Diaz, are working behind the scenes as well.

Diaz, for example, has started to direct for Noir Male.

"It was refreshing to be part of the conversation," Diaz revealed, "and to bounce ideas back and forth off each other, and hear other people's experiences and try and figure out what we can do."

He said: "I'm drawing on my personal experiences, my fantasies, things that have happened to me; maybe I've embellished them a little. But I wasn't alone. Out house director is Ricky Greenwood, and he gave me some perfect advice. He said: 'This is your vision. You need to come in and tell the team this is what your vision is and get everyone working on it.'"
