After three years, the legal battle between Icon Male and Massachusetts homeowner Leah Bassett has ended.
Bassett sued Icon Male, director Nica Noelle (pictured) and parent company Mile High Media for filming an X-rated video in Bassett's Martha’s Vineyard home. At the time, the home was being rented by a Joshua Spafford; however, Spafford was really Noelle. In 2014 and 2015, Noelle was using the location for several videos she was shooting, even though the rental agreement stipulated the location could not be used for commercial purposes.
Bassett said that her place was wrecked, with $16K in damages. Noelle also failed to secure the necessary film permits.
The home owner eventually reduced her claims to an issue of copyright infringement, arguing that her artwork was showing up in several adult films without her consent. She was seeking compensation for every time one of her pictures was seen in a video.
Initially, Bassett was seeking $3,000,000.
The parties eventually pursued an end to the litigation through an alternative dispute resolution meeting. A final settlement was agreed upon, though no details have been released to the public.
