Sherry Vine brings the funny to her OutTV series

Sherry Vine

Believe it or not, popular drag queen Sherry Vine has been working those wigs for 30 years; so it wasn't that surprising that OUTtv Apple TV Channel approached her when it wanted something new to offer viewers.

The result: The Sherry Vine Variety Show.

Vine explained that the show is a modern take on the variety TV shows from the 1970s, offering a fast-paced mix of sketches, musical performances and guest appearances.

"I think with The Sherry Vine Variety Show, there is literally something for everyone," Vine told OUT FRONT Magazine. "I think the younger people, who are fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race, will get a chance to see some of their favorite drag queens doing something that they have never seen them do before. I think for gay men my age, they will be like, ‘Oh my God; this is so Carol Burnett.’ It is so Sonny-and-Cher, old-school, 1970s variety show. I am certainly not taking credit for inventing the genre at all; it is clearly a rip off of Carol Burnett."

Another familiar face in the series is Bianca Del Rio.

“I’m thrilled to have been a part of this fun project by my hilarious and incredibly talented old, old, old friend, Sherry Vine!!" Del Rio said. "Compared to an abortion, THIS WAS FUN!! The skits are rotted and hysterical. Everyone with a sense of humor needs to watch this show.”

The series debuted in May, and the newest episode came out yesterday on Apple TV.
