Thomas Roberts has just launched a new Facebook Live show called Gay Good News.
The former MSNBC host created the online series to highlight positive news about and for the LGBTQ community. He explained that, with Pride events being canceled around the world, he wanted to offer something positive to fill some of the gaps.
“We can take this platform and celebrate things,” he said during the first episode. “We want your voice to be amplified... We hope to do something really fun and really special because we’ve been through a weird moment with isolation. For me, it’s deeply personal.”
Each show will run between 25 and 30 minutes, and he hopes to release a new update every few days.
His first guest was actor Leslie Jordan.
“[Jordan] is the best thing to come out of COVID!” Roberts said. “There’s that charm and wit, a raw vulnerability you can see through Instagram.”
Roberts revealed that he has struggled a lot with the pandemic.
“I was basically going stir-crazy,” he said. “I didn’t have work to distract me. I just watched TV all day with all these ominous feelings of doom and gloom.”
He admitted his idea is based on the popular online quarantine series by John Krasinski called Some Good News.
“Imitation is the greatest form of flattery,” Roberts argued. “There are so many good things happening in the world and it’s easy to lose sight of that. We need more good news!”
Sadly, the whole thing will be G-rated; don't expect to see any skin like the leaked pics from 2015 that allegedly show Thomas in his birthday suit.
