Scruff has just bought Jack'd

Scruff appThe company behind gay dating app Scruff has purchased competitor Jack'd for an undisclosed amount.

“For years, we have admired the diverse and global community of Jack’d,” Eric Silverberg, CEO of Perry Street Software said in a press release. “This acquisition will provide Jack’d members with the same combination of technology and active moderation we have developed at SCRUFF, so that the Jack’d community members will be protected against harassment, spam bots, scammers, and risks while traveling.”

It is likely Scruff managed to get a bit of a discount, as Jack'd was recently forced to address a major data breach on the app. Users discovered that their private photos had been exposed publicly due to a bug. The company agreed to pay $240,000 in damages.

“We recognize that the growth Jack’d experienced in building its app created some technical and logistical growing pains, and we are eager through this acquisition to provide Jack’d members with a much improved software experience,” Silverberg added. “Perry Street will invest significant resources to upgrade the technology and reliability of the Jack’d app.”

Jack'd has over 5 million users, with 50 percent of them in Asia. The purchase now makes Perry Street Software the “largest fully LGBTQ owned and operated software company”, already boasting 15 million users on Scruff.

Perry Street has promised to provide "improved messaging, redesigned Match, richer search and the ability to include video as part of member private album or in chat." And though these features are currently available on Scruff, the two apps will remain separate.

Scruff or Grindr or Jack'd, we just want to find an app with more cocks but fewer dicks.
