Pastor's kid wows "American Idol" with powerful song

Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon is a pastor's kid, a church janitor, and now he's a contestant on American Idol.
 
His audition was shared on Sunday's episode of the reality show. He chose to sing something he had written himself called “Almost Heaven.” The touching piece reflects on whether or not he would find a place in heaven as a gay man.
 
The performance wowed the judges.
 
“When you opened your mouth and started singing, I went straight to Billy Joel,” Lionel Richie said. “Then you kept singing and you passed Billy Joel. Your range is incredible. Your voice is incredible.”
