Joey Mills may have left Helix Studios, but he is still working with the studio to promote
Electric Soul, the third novel in the
Rise Up series.
Written by Taylor Saracen, the book is a coming-of-age novel that explores Mills’ life before becoming a gay pornstar. Semi-biographical, the book follows the actor through his struggles as a troubled teen, his relationship with his mother and his path to self-discovery.
“Electric Soul is a view at teenage life that isn't necessarily what parents or educators want to believe is true in America today, but it is,” Saracen said. “I seek to de-stigmatize those who work in the adult film industry by showing how closely their struggles mirror our own. They are a community that has been marginalized and maligned. They deserve better representation.”
Saracen and Mills became close during the writing of the book.
"The beginning of the writing process was sitting down and talking to Joey about his early life and coming out. As I wrote the novel, I sent each chapter to Joey and we texted or Facetimed to make sure everything felt right.
“I hope his magnetism comes across in the pages,” she added.
Her first two books in the series were about Blake Mitchell and Kyle Ross. All three books are available in some bookstores, on Amazon and from most e-book sites. And Milles is currently on
a book tour to promote
Electric Soul.
