Diesel defends its questionable “Hate Couture” line

Diesel faggot jacket

Clothing company Diesel wants you to know it's super edgy.

Need proof? How about clothing covered in hateful slurs. Fun times!

The fashion brand released “Hate Couture” last month. The limited edition line was created in collaboration with certain celebrities who were asked to choose a bigoted term used against them online. Nicki Minaj, Bella Thorne, and Gucci Mane all took part.

The tagline: “The more hate you wear the less you care.”

Giving a nod to the LGBT community, actor Tommy Dorfman from 13 Reasons Why chose the word “faggot.” And it will only cost you about $460.

Although there was a lot of backlash, Diesel defended its decision.

“Our aim has always been to disempower those that create the hate and manifest negativity," a spokesman said. “Every individual cast within the campaign relates personally to the issue itself.

“To bring awareness to the wider issue, each chose a phrase that they wanted to wear proudly with the goal of empowering others to take a stance. Together, Diesel and Tommy Dorfman use this as a platform to disempower the haters and show the more hate you wear, the less you care.”

“All proceeds from this jacket are benefitting the Ali Forney Center in NY which provides shelter, food and programs to homeless LGBTQ+ youth," added Dorfman.

Idea: make clothing people actually want and you won't have to resort to stupid gimmicks.
